Substituted oxindoles. Part II. Correlation of rate constants with Hammett′s substituent constants and chemical shifts for the 3-position of some substituted oxindoles

Abstract

The reactivity at the 2-position of some 5,6, and 7-substituted oxindoles has been investigated by determining the rate constant for benzylidene formation, and the relationship between the appropriate Hammett's σ-constants, rate constants, and n.m.r. chemical-shift values investigated.
