Unstable intermediates. Part XCVIII. Electron spin resonance spectra for various antimonate radicals in γ-irradiated potassium antimonate and sodium hexafluoroantimonate

Abstract

Exposure of potassium antimonate to 60Co γ-rays gave a radical whose e.s.r. spectrum was close to that expected for SbO42– radicals. Similar treatment for sodium hexafluoroantimonate gave a radical with a comparable e.s.r. spectrum, suggesting that the species is of the form O–SbXα rather than SbF5 or SbF62–, as previously suggested.
