Fluoride crystal structures. Part III. Rhenium oxide tetrafluoride

Abstract

Crystals of rhenium oxide tetrafluoride are monoclinic, space group C2/c, a= 19·01, b= 5·57, c= 14·72 Å, β= 114°. The structure was refined by three-dimensional least-squares methods, the final R being 0·112 for 930 independent reflections. The structure is similar to that of molybdenum oxide tetrafluoride, with endless chains of molecules linked by cis-bridging fluorine atoms, and an approximately octahedral arrangement of the light atoms around the rhenium atom.
