Optically active co-ordination compounds. Part XIV. Some binuclear complexes of cobalt

Abstract

A number of binuclear complexes of the type [en2 CoX(µNH2)YCo en2]n+, some new, are described. Several new preparations of known complexes are described, including insertions into oxygen bridges by sulphur dioxide and other small molecules. The nitro-bridged complex is reformulated as containing a nitrito-bridge. Ion-pairing effects are described. The Cotton effects of the resolved complexes are presented, and their absolute optical configurations are deduced by chemical relations with those of the mononuclear series.
