The synthesis of diphenolic acid using the periodic mesoporous H3PW12O40-silica composite catalysed reaction of levulinic acid

Abstract

The green water-tolerant acid catalyst, periodic mesoporous H3PW12O40/SBA-15, has been prepared by a direct sol-gel co-condensation technique. The composite is an efficient and reusable solid catalyst for the condensation of phenol with a biomass-derived platform molecule, levulinic acid, to produce the important molecule diphenolic acid.
