Imaging the effects of the antisymmetric stretch excitation of CH4 in the reaction with F atom

Abstract

One quantum excitation of methane to CH4(v3 = 1) was found to prohibit the CH bond rupture, thus slowing down the total reactivity toward F atoms, and when the reaction does occur, only stretch-excited methyl radical CH3(v1/v3 = 1) products have significant yields.
