Zwitterionic adducts from trialkylphosphine and (η-allyl)dicarbonyl-nitrosyliron complexes: structure and reactivity

Abstract

The reaction between [Fe(η-C3H5)(CO)2(NO)] and strong basic phosphine ligands L [PMe3, PEt3, PBun3, or P(C6H11)3] in organic solvents (benzene or diethyl ether) gives the zwitterionic adducts [Fe(η2-CH2[double bond, length half m-dash] CHCH2PR3)(CO)2(NO)]. The structure has been assigned on the basis of i.r. and n.m.r. spectra and conductivity measurements. The reactivity and the decomposition mechanism are discussed.
