Halogen⋯halogen interactions in diiodo-xylenes

Abstract

Four isomers of diiodo-xylene were synthesized and their single crystal X-ray structures determined. I⋯I interactions were found to play a strong role in defining the crystal packing patterns of these simple aromatic structures.
