Metal ion triggers for reversible switching of DNA polymerase

Abstract

We herein develop a new strategy that modulates DNA polymerase activity in a reversible and switchable manner by using the novel interactions between DNA bases and metal ions (T–Hg2+–T and C–Ag+–C) inside a DNA aptamer capable of inhibiting DNA polymerase.
