Polyimide-wrapped carbon nanotube electrodes for long cycle Li–air batteries

Abstract

A simple surface modification technique for carbon electrodes in long-cycle Li–air batteries is demonstrated, in which a polyimide coating is used to suppress unwanted side reactions between the electrode and the electrolyte (and/or Li2O2). This is found to result in excellent cycling performance, without any significant loss of capacity.
