Anion coordination by metallamacrocycles: a cryptand-like cavity

Abstract

A {Ni9(N3)9} metallamacrocycle is able to coordinate azide and halide anions in trigonal prismatic cavities by means of H-bond interactions. It provides an unprecedented example of a self-assembled cryptand-like cavity.
