The first bridged 9,10-bis(1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)-9,10-dihydroanthracene derivatives: strained redox-active cyclophanes

Abstract

The reaction of anthraquinone and the dianion of bis(1,3-dithiolyl)diphosphonate reagents 2 and 3 afford the cyclophane derivatives 4 and 5, the cyclic voltammetry and X-ray crystal structures of which are reported.
