Novel P–O bond forming reactions via coupling of phosphinidene and phosphidoxo groups on a tetranuclear ruthenium cluster: face capping Ph2POPR ligands and the X-ray structure of Ru4(CO)8(µ-CO)(µ32-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CBut)[µ32-PPh2(OPPh)]

Abstract

Reaction of the alkynylphosphine oxide Ph2P(O)C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CBut with square-pyramidal nido-Ru4(CO)133-PR)(1a, R = Ph; 1b, R = NPri2) affords a novel example of P–O bond synthesis to yield the ligands Ph2POPR, coordinated on a triangular face of the clusters Ru4(CO)8(µ-CO)(µ32-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CBut)[µ32-PPh2(OPPh)](2a, R = Ph; 2b, R = NPri2).
