Synthesis, structure and properties of a new vanadyl–phenolate derivative as a model for the vanadium(IV) transferrins

Abstract

The synthesis, and the X-ray crystal structure, spectroeletrochemical and spectroscopic properties of [OVIV(bbpen)][H2bbpen =N,N′-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N′-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamime] are reported; this complex is the first VO2+ species that exhibits similar UV–VIS and EPR properties to those detected in VO2+ transferrins.
