Characterisation of the air- and water-stable organometallic ruthenium(IV) complex [(η3 : η2 : η3-C12H18)RuCl(H2O)][BF4]

Abstract

The reaction of [(η3 : η2 : η3-C12H18)RuCl2] with Ag[BF4](1 : 1 mole ratio) in water–acetone gives an air-stable aqueous solution of [(η3 : η2 : η3-C12H18)RuCl(H2O)][BF4]; the isolated complex has been characterised by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
