Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of a heptametallic complex containing the unbridged FeSnFeHgFeSnFe skeleton

Abstract

The reaction between [NEt4]2[Cl2Sn{Fe(CO)4}2] and [ClHgMo(CO)3(η-C5H5)] affords the air-stable compound [NEt4]2[{(OC)4FeSnCl2Fe(CO)4}2Hg]1 with high yields; X-ray crystallography has proved that the anion contains the novel unsupported heptametallic FeSnFeHgFeSnFe skeleton.
