Syntheses and characterization of stable pseudo-octahedral tris-phenolato complexes of vanadium-(III), -(IV), and -(V)

Abstract

Reaction of the anionic form of the hexadentate ligand 1,4,7-tris(5-t-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (H3L) with VCl3 in MeCN affords LVIII which is oxidized chemically and electrochemically to [LVIV]+ and [LVV]2+; electrochemical, magnetic, and electronic spectroscopic properties of these complexes and the X-ray structure of [LV][BPh4] are reported.
