Lariat effect visualized through the bathochromic shift of counter anion absorption

Abstract

The bathochromic shift of the absorption band of the counter anion, extracted into the organic phase with a macrocyclic ligand from aqueous metal picrate solutions, has been shown to be a convenient measure for evaluting the geometry of cation–ligand complexes in solution.
