An intermediate with a copper–carbon bond formed by the reaction of copper ions with ·CH2CO2H radicals in aqueous solutions
Abstract
The radical ·CH2CO2– reacts with Cu2+(aq) forming an unstable intermediate with a specific rate of (6·4 ± 1·5)× 108 1 mol–1 s–1; the intermediate, Cu–CH2CO2+, decomposes via a first-order process with k 2·8 ± 0·3 s–1.
