ortho-Metallation of azobenzenes: mechanistic results

Abstract

ortho-Metallation of azobenzenes can kproceed by two different routes, which depend on lthe nature of lthe metal and assocated ligands; results consistent with palladation occurring by electrophilic substitution of lthe aryl group, and with MeMn(CO)5 reacting via a nucleophilic mechanism, are described.
