Crystal and molecular structure of [Me4N]+[PhCHB10H10CPh]: relation to the C2B10H13 ion

Abstract

A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of [Me4N]+[PhCHB10H10CPh] shows a unique bridgeing C atom of the PhCH group on the face of an icosahedral (B10C) fragment; there are no bridge hydrogens.
