A gold immunochromatographic assay for simultaneous detection of parathion and triazophos in agricultural products

Abstract

A multi-component gold immunochromatographic assay (GICA) was developed for the rapid and simultaneous detection of parathion and triazophos in agricultural products. Two different antigens were immobilized separately in two test lines on a nitrocellulose membrane, and two specific monoclonal antibodies (McAbs) against parathion and triazophos were labeled with colloidal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as detection probes, respectively. After optimization, the visual cut-off limits of detection for the strip test were 0.05 μg mL−1 for triazophos and 0.1 μg mL−1 for parathion. Thereafter, the developed GICA strip was employed and evaluated for the real sample test using spiked agricultural products (rice, vegetable and fruit samples). The results showed that matrix interference was negligible and the qualification was in good agreement with the results of gas chromatography (GC). The rapid, simple and low cost multidetection sensor could be a potential alternative format for on-site and rapid simultaneous detection of parathion and triazophos.
