Photo-promoted carbonylative carboxylation of alkenes to synthesize β-alkyl ketocarboxylic acid derivatives with CO and CO2 as two mixed C1 gaseous molecules

Abstract

Herein, we report a photocatalytic carbonylative carboxylation strategy for alkenes, achieving the cooperative utilization of both CO and CO2 as C1 building blocks within a single reaction system. This method enables the efficient synthesis of β-alkyl ketocarboxylic acid derivatives from abundant and low-cost starting materials under mild conditions.
