Supported Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative carbonylation reaction of 2-alkynoic acids and aryl iodides

Abstract

A single step tandem approach for the decarboxylative carbonylation reaction between 2-alkynoic acids and aryl iodides has been introduced. Herein, Pd nanoparticles (NPs) supported on polystyrene (Pd@PS) have efficiently catalyzed both decarboxylation of alkynoic acids and their subsequent carbonylative coupling with aryl iodides, employing oxalic acid as a CO source. Furthermore, milder reaction conditions, vast substrate scope, high functional group tolerance, catalyst reusability and use of solid and affordable oxalic acid as a CO source are advantageous features of the developed protocol.
