Fast Detection of Penicillium Rot and Conservation Status of Packaged Citrus Fruit Using an Optical Array Sensor

Abstract

A novel optical array sensor designed to detect the conservation status of citrus fruit as well as contaminations of ripened fruits by green mold incited by the fungus Penicillium digitatum is here reported. The device demonstrates high sensitivity, specificity, and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for integration into into the citrus fruit supply chain, including production and packaging systems.
