Electroless deposition of RuPd nanoparticles on porous carbon for hydrogen evolution in acid and alkaline media

Abstract

Rapid construction of a stable pH universal HER catalyst is of great significance. Herein, we report a one-step electroless deposition method to prepare a carbon-based catalyst (RuPd/NPSC) with Pd and Ru nanoparticles simultaneously. The deposition is attributed to the reduction potential difference between the substrate (NPSC) and Ru3+/Ru and Pd2+/Pd. RuPd/NPSC shows excellent catalytic activity for the HER under acidic and alkaline conditions.
