Recent advances in transition-metal-free trifluoromethylation with Togni's reagents

Abstract

Transition-metal-free trifluoromethylations have attracted significant research interest driven by the increasing importance of CF3-containing compounds. Among the various trifluoromethylation reagents, Togni's reagents exhibit exceptional reactivities, and many important organic transformations have been realized employing such reagents. This review describes several key activation methods for Togni's reagents under transition-metal-free conditions by showcasing selected cornerstone research areas and related mechanisms to stimulate the interest of readers in participating in the development of novel efficient transition-metal-free trifluoromethylations with Togni's reagents.
