Direct conversion of isopropanol to C6+ branched compounds as high-octane gasoline blendstocks†
Abstract
The development of fermentation engineering makes isopropanol derived from lignocellulose a potential biomass platform molecule. Here we report the one-pot synthesis of C6+ branched compounds from isopropanol condensation on Ni/MoC catalysts. The ideal branched-chain selectivity in C6+ and nonnecessity of H2 make this route advantageous in high-octane gasoline blendstock production.
