Gold-catalyzed domino reactions of alkynol and p-quinone methides: divergent synthesis of fused- and spiro-ketals

Abstract

An efficient gold-catalyzed domino reaction of alkynyl alcohols and p-quinone methides has been successfully developed. Divergent polycyclic fused- and spiro-ketals were synthesized in good yields under mild conditions from easily available starting materials in an atom-economical manner.
