A vapochromic strategy for ammonia sensing based on a bipyridinium constructed porous framework

Abstract

A new porous coordination polymer has been constructed based on a flexible bipyridinium derivative and iodine anions. The compound exhibits a rapid vapochromic response to ammonia molecules due to competitive complexation and an enhanced charge transfer effect.
