Exploring the Hidden Potential of Benzothiazole Based Schiff base “AIE and ESIPT” active for pH Sensing, Intracellular Imaging and Ultrasensitive & Selective detection of Aluminium (Al3+).

Abstract

In this article, we tried to redefine the unexplored potentiality of benzothiazole type of Schiff-base (OM) which is identified as AIE active molecule and exhibits excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT). Interestingly, this compound shows ultra-sensitivity and selectivity to the detection of Al(III) [12 pM (456ppt)]. The OM is also capable of showing pH sensing and further, tested for internalization in cancerous cell with intracellular imaging. Computational modeling was performed and the results are in well aligned to the experimental UV–Vis spectrum and the energy gap obtained in basic and acidic media of OM.
