Substantially enhanced Raman signal for inorganic–organic nanocomposites by ALD-TiO2 capping

Abstract

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) enables conformal coating of various surface architectures with high-quality ultrathin films. Here we demonstrate how such 3–12 nm thick ALD-TiO2 coatings can be used to substantially enhance Raman scattering of organic molecular layers embedded between thicker inorganic layers; our proof-of-concept data are for ∼45 nm thick oxide-hydroquinone hybrid films.
