Flow-injection with enhanced evaporative light scattering detector detection and quantification of human serum albumin using gold nanoparticles

Abstract

A novel method, based on evaporative light scattering detection (ELSD), enhanced by gold nanoparticles (GNPs), was established to determine human serum albumin (HSA). In our case, under the optimal conditions, the calibration interval was 43.0–2.50 × 104 ng with a detection limit of 21.0 ng for HSA. The analysis speed of ELSD is fast: it takes only 2 min to analyze each sample. We also observed acceptable agreement between the new method and the BCG method. The new method was proved to be simple, rapid and sensitive for the determination of HSA. Our results demonstrate that ELSD combined with GNPs may have great potential value for clinical trials which will meet the needs of clinical rapid analysis.
