Tunable luminescence in full color region based on CdSe/EuxSey hybrid nanocrystals

Abstract

High quality CdSe/EuxSey hybrid nanocrystals were prepared through two methods. The photoluminescence of hybrid nanocrystals was tunable from blue to deep red by varying the different amount of rare earth in quantum dots (QDs) as well as the synthesis methods. The resultant hybrid nanocrystals were monodisperse of which size was controllable from 2.55 nm to 5.86 nm. Furthermore, it has been proved that the hybrid nanocrystals were of cubic crystal structure with the host of CdSe QDs. And the lanthanide ions were incorporated into the CdSe crystal lattice successfully.
