Vertically oriented CuInS₂ nanosheet thin films were prepared via a facile one-step solvothermal process and used in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) as counter electrodes. The catalytic activity of the CuInS₂ films based on different precursor concentrations was investigated using electrochemical methods. DSSCs based on optimized CuInS₂ thin film as counter electrodes reached a power conversion efficiency of 6.33%, comparable to that of sputtering Pt (6.07%).
