Vapor phase synthesis of mesoporous silica rods within the pores of alumina membranes

Abstract

Periodic mesoporous silica was synthesized within the pores of anodic alumina membranes (AAMs) by the acid-catalysed vapor phase synthesis method. A solution containing a template surfactant was introduced into AAM pores under moderate aspiration, prior to the vapor phase synthesis. Characteristic nanoarchitectures of mesoporous silica could be obtained depending on the kind of surfactant used.
