Using the natural potential of chromone: Development of small molecules as multi-ion detectors

Abstract

α,β-Unsaturated system and sp3, sp2 hybridized oxygens of chromone were found to perform independent tasks which were assimilated to develop multi-use materials – each molecule selectively and competitively interacting with Fe3+, Hg2+ and CN.
