Highly efficient synthesis of phosphatidylserine in the eco-friendly solvent γ-valerolactone

Abstract

γ-Valerolactone has recently been described as an excellent candidate for a green solvent which is available naturally. Herein, it was used as the reaction medium in biocatalysis for the first time. Our results indicated that a 95% yield of phosphatidylserine could be achieved. This work is a proof-of-concept, opening up the use of γ-valerolactone in biotransformations.
