Self-ordered TiO₂/Nb₂O₅ “superlattice” nanotube arrays are successfully fabricated by electrochemical anodization from a commercially available Ti–Nb metal multilayer. The oxide nanotube walls then consist of alternating [similar] 4 nm TiO₂ and 7 nm Nb₂O₅ rings. Such “superlattice” nanotube layers exhibit a much higher structural cycling stability for reversible Li-intercalation processes than pure TiO₂ nanotubes.
