A metal–organic framework (MOF), NH2-MIL-101(Al), which acts as a bifunctional, site-isolated Lewis acid–Brønsted base heterogeneous catalyst, catalyzes a tandem Meinwald rearrangement–Knoevenagel condensation reaction with remarkable substrate selectivity.
