A noncentrosymmetric chiral Strandberg-type polyoxometalate based material, Cs₄Mo₅P₂O₂₂, that contains unusual one dimensional chains constructed from [Mo₅P₂O₂₃]⁶⁻ units has been reported. Cs₄Mo₅P₂O₂₂ shows a moderate SHG response, and is phase-matchable.
