With the in situ generated H₂O₂ tailored by the addition of p-tetrachlorobenzoquinone, the product can be effectively steered towards either HCOOH or the methanol derivative CF₃COOCH₃ during the direct oxidation of methane with molecular oxygen over palladium catalyst.
