Upon exposing crystals made of a combination of an amidinium based dication and [Fe^III(CN)₆]³⁻ anion to a hydroalcoholic solution of hydrazine and KCl, the reduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II) with concomitant incorporation of K⁺ cation takes place in the crystalline phase.
