Carbon–titania composite substrates for fuel cell catalyst applications

Abstract

We report a sol–gel route to synthesize optimized carbon–titania composite substrates, which have more than twice the surface area, nearly three times higher corrosion resistance and improved hydrogen adsorption–desorption area retention compared to the commercial Vulcan XC-72 carbon substrates.
