Zipper-like properties of [poly(L-lysine) + poly(L-glutamic acid)] β-pleated molecular self-assembly

Abstract

Through the application of Molecular Force Spectroscopy, here we demonstrate nanomechanical properties of a β-pleated, reversible, and pH-controllable molecular “zipper” formed by the spontaneous self-assembly of two sequenceless polypeptides.
