Abstract

A new titanium phosphate [H3NC2H4NH2]TiOPO4 has been prepared under solvothermal conditions. It crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/c with cell parameters a = 9.2457(19), b = 7.3465(16), c = 9.929(2) Å, β = 100.702(5)°, V = 662.7(2) Å3, Z = 4, Mw = 219.98 g mol−1, Dc = 2.205 g cm−3; the final residual factors were R = 0.0337 and Rw = 0.0804. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of infinite zigzag TiO5N octahedra in chains corner-linked by PO4 tetrahedra; the TiO5N octahedra are all trans-linked with Ti–O bonds being alternately short and long. The monoprotonated ethylenediamine is intercalated between the layers with one end coordinated to Ti. Thermogravimetric analysis implied N–C scission upon calcination.
