[Pt2(GaCp*)22-Ga Cp*)3]: structure and bonding situation of the first homoleptic platinum complex with terminal and bridging Cp*Ga ligands

Abstract

A new homoleptic diplatinum complex [Pt2(GaCp*)22-GaCp*)3] (Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) exhibiting a central unit of two platinum atoms coordinated by five Cp*Ga groups acting as terminal as well as bridging ligands, was synthesized by the reaction of tris(ethylene)platinum(0) with an excess of (Cp*Ga)6 and was characterized by structural and quantum chemical methods.
