Colopsinols B and C, new long chain polyhydroxy compounds from cultured marine dinoflagellate Amphidinium sp.

Abstract

Colopsinols B (1) and C (2), unique polyhydroxy compounds consisting of a C53-linear aliphatic chain with three C1 branches, three ether rings, six hydroxy groups, a glucoside moiety, and a sulfate ester have been isolated from the cultured marine dinoflagellate Amphidinium sp. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of extensive NMR techniques as well as FABMS/MS data of the peroxide (3) of 2.
