Investigation of factors affecting the photoluminescence of colloidally-prepared HgTe nanocrystals

Abstract

We report the effect of varying the experimental conditions on the synthesis of colloidal HgTe nanocrystals in aqueous solution, and by using deuterated water (D2O) as a solvent, demonstrate strong luminescence over the full range of the strategic 1.3 and 1.5 µm telecoms windows.
