Novel hydrogen bonding ring motifs in a model peptide: crystal and molecular conformation

Abstract

The crystal molecular structure of a model peptide, Boc-Ile-Thr-NH2, unexpectedly revealed two unusual intramolecularly hydrogen bonded ring motifs, i.e. an intraresidue main-chain to main-chain interaction (Ni–H‥O[double bond, length half m-dash]Ci) and an interresidue ‘newly discovered’ side-chain to main-chain interaction (Ni–H‥OiγThr), across a polar proteinogenic residue.
